Czech for Russian-speaking Foreigners

The course is organized by the Department of Language and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies of Mendel University in Brno. It is conceived as a preparatory course for studying at Czech universities, especially at Mendel University in Brno. 

Teaching is primarily aimed at the universal acquisition of language resources of the Czech language, complex developments of receptive and  productive language speaking skills for communication  both in formal and  informal environment  (listening, reading, speaking and writing) and  the familiarization with cultural, social and historical facts of the CZ). The main aim of the course is to train students in order to enable them to communicate in the Czech language at least on B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), which is a basic requirement for studying at most Czech universities.


Mode of completion:

Completion of required subjects according to the study contract

Every subject, that is included in the course syllabus, is completed with a credit or an exam at the end of the course.


The final document:

  • After the final exam, the course participants will receive a certificate with the evaluation of the test results, according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The students can sit for the Czech Language Certificate Exam (CCE) according to CEFR.

Admission pre-requisites:

Completed secondary school education or the student is in his/her final grade of the secondary school on a particular day of handing in an application form.

Study plan / Framework schedule:

The syllabi of the study programmes are carried out in accordance with the  regulations stated in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Two-term course – expected output  knowledge of the Czech language on the Reference Level of B1/B2 proficiency scales according to CEFR.
