How can family farms strengthen their position in today’s highly competitive food market? What opportunities do short food supply chains bring for local producers, rural economies, and sustainable agriculture? These questions will be explored during an international workshop taking place on May 26, 2026, at Dabić Winery in Trebinje.
The educational workshop is organized within the Visegrad+ funded project “Family Farms in Short Food Supply Chains: Transfer of Experiences from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland”, led by Mendel University in Brno in cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Banja Luka.
Participants will gain insight into practical examples of family farms from Central Europe that have successfully implemented Short Food Supply Chains (SFSC). The workshop will also introduce the Business Model Canvas as a practical management tool that helps farmers optimize resources, improve efficiency, and create more stable income opportunities.
The event will feature presentations and case studies from experts involved in the project, including representatives of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Banja Luka. Beyond sharing experiences and good practices, the workshop aims to encourage discussion about the future of local food systems and sustainable rural development.
