The band WSEDĚ was founded in Kuřim Prison as a prison band more than 10 years ago. The band is composed of convicts who are currently serving their prison sentences and are musically talented. Their members are replaced at different stages as new convicts arrive. The original importance of the group was only in the meaningful use of the convicts’ free time, but now the group also goes to public productions. Most notably with the “Crime Prevention” program, where they visit high school students and, through presentations about the prison and especially through the stories of convicts about how they got there, discourage youth from committing crime, drug use, or other socially pathological activities.
