An expert workshop with stakeholders took place within the project Incorporating the concept of ecosystem services assessment into future river basin plans – WAMPES. The project’s principal investigators presented its purpose, objectives and benefits for stakeholders.
One of the key points of the workshop was the presentation of selected sites for research, among which the section of the Bečva River between Hranice na Moravě and Valašské Meziříčí stands out. This site is publicly known and has recently been frequently discussed in the media. It was chosen for its rich biodiversity and its diverse ecosystem, which provides ideal conditions for the analysis of ecosystem services.
The programme also included a discussion with invited stakeholders on the selection of further suitable sites for research. Among the participants were representatives of the Regional Authority of the South Moravian and South Bohemian Regions (Environmental Department), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of the Environment, the Elbe River Basin Authority and other professional institutions.
The workshop provided valuable insights not only for the project developers but also for the stakeholders involved. They gained a better understanding of the research and could actively participate in its further direction. The meeting showed the importance of cooperation between experts, public administration and other actors in planning and protecting aquatic ecosystems.
