This year we decided to take a different approach to Advent – instead of giving to ourselves, we want to give together to those who need it most. We have dedicated each of the three weeks until Christmas to a charity collection. These collections will run through the end of the year, but we will reveal them one at a time, each Monday.Thank you for helping
This week we focused on a charity swap that will help several organizations: Vesna, Diakonia Betlém and STC Hustopeče. Together we can provide them with the necessary items and materials that will directly support their activities.
What can you donate?
- For Vesna
- Seasonal clothing (winter coats, jackets, hats, scarves, gloves)
- Towels and tea towels
- Toiletries (shampoos, soaps, tampons, pads, diapers, etc.)
- For Diakonia Betlém and STC Hustopeče
- Fabrics suitable for sewing (cotton, flannel, canvas…)
- Threads, buttons, ribbons and other sewing supplies
How will your donations help?
Vesna provides assistance to women and children in need. Your donation can help to make their lives more dignified.
“The wardrobe is where things are given new life. Donors bring us unused household items, bedding, toys, sporting goods, drugstore and cosmetics, seasonal clothing and shoes for children and adults, and we pass these items on to families who are happy to use them.”
Diakonie Betlém and STC Hustopeče produces practical products from donated fabrics that help fund their activities while supporting the participation of people with disabilities in meaningful work.
“We want to enable people with disabilities to live active lives where they can develop their uniqueness. We support them in developing social and work skills, manual dexterity and creativity. We help them perceive the world around them, become aware of their own personality and emotions, find motivation and experience a sense of security.”
Where to drop off the collection?
You can bring gifts:
- At the faculty – the corridor leading to the auditorium, where a makeshift wardrobe was created!
- Alternatively, you can drop things off at the study department.
Value-added swap
In the spirit of the swap, it is possible to give and take something that will in turn make you happy. Selected items from the charity swap that are not needed for the collection will be available on site – you might find something that will make you or your loved ones happy.
Thank you for helping! 🌍✨
