The team at the Department of Regional Development is diverse: we are social geographers, economists, GISers and regionalists.

Therefore, our teaching and research focus is also broad, ranging from regional policy, strategic planning, public administration to specific local development tools.

For example, we address the following topics:

  • Participation of actors in territorial development,
  • community development (especially the activities of local action groups),
  • smart cities and regions,
  • brownfields,
  • cooperation between municipalities,
  • municipal amenities or
  • assessing visibility in cities and landscapes.

We use a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods and subsequently apply a variety of tools to process and visualize (not only) spatial data.
