Study programme Regional Development

The conception of the study branch Socioeconomic and Environmental Development of Regions reacts to a growing demand for university trained professionals who are knowledgeable in evaluating the complex socio-economic and environmental development of regions and who are also able to consider global as well as local contexts and conditions leading to a successful development in accordance with modern tendencies of regional politics and abilities towards effective use in entrepreneurial field as well as in institutions of public administration including the impact on potential regional growth.

The fulfilment of this conception is guaranteed by the structure and contents of the study plan, on bachelor level based on gaining knowledge and abilities, relevant to common theoretical macroeconomic and microeconomic base, sociology and environmentalism, further intensified in regional development theory and extending knowledge in nature conservation. Only after gaining certain theory-based knowledge, students are encouraged and trained in abilities of successful project initiation and operation. Apart from the above mentioned skills, students are trained in the basics of national and environmental law and policies.     

Within the frame of common mandatory subject base, students improve and gain new knowledge in mathematics and statistics. In the individual subjects, most attention is paid to active knowledge and its use within relevant data base information systems. Part of all study programmes are courses of foreign languages.

Study programme International Territorial Studies

The bachelor programme International Development Studies within the frame of the International Territorial Studies is aimed at educating professionals who are knowledgeable in current problems of the developing world from a global and comparative perspective, who are able to use theoretical knowledge in the specification of causal context and crucial determinants of individual process and its results as well as the identification of problems and abilities to solve them in practice. The graduates shall be able to find employment mainly in the national and supranational institutions, organizations and agencies dealing with problems in developing countries, different NGOs, particularly in leading and conceptual positions involved in international projects.   Based on their competencies, the graduates should also be able to find employment in the entrepreneurial sector as well as in positions where they are responsible for the expansion of different national companies in the developing countries together with activities linked to individual entrepreneurial activities in the developing world.

Study programmes in Czech language are free of charge, student have to pass an entrance examination in Czech language.
